6. Character : White crystalline solid, highly hygroscopic with an ammonia odor. When heated to 150°C, it decomposes into ammonium sulfite, sulfur, ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, and water. It is highly unstable in air but stable in an ammonia atmosphere. At 150°C, it almost completely decomposes. It is highly soluble in water, slightly soluble in acetone, and insoluble in alcohols and ethers. Its aqueous solution tends to precipitate sulfur upon prolonged standing, and concentrated solutions gradually decompose above 50°C.
7. Usage: It is mainly used in the photographic industry (e.g., film fixing), cyanide-free electroplating (environmentally friendly silver plating), agricultural fertilizers and pesticides, as well as for heavy metal wastewater treatment, analytical chemical reagents, and even in the petroleum industry.
8. Packing : It is packed with polyethylene bag as inner layer and a compound plastic woven bag as outer layer. The net weight of each bag is 25kg.
9. Storage and Transport : It should be stored in a dry and ventilating warehouse, be cautious to keep away from moisture and hot, unloaded with care so as to avoid the damage. Furthermore, it should be stored separately from poisonous substances.
